The US Navy is testing technology developed as part of the secret Project Overmatch program, an aircraft carrier strike group led by the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson is involved in the tests, Defense news reports.

US Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Mike Gilday said on Monday that "a project is under way right now" involving a carrier strike group off the coast of California.

The admiral noted that in the coming months, the American command hopes to determine the scope of follow-up actions on the project. However, the admiral did not provide other details.

According to Defense news, Project Overmatch is the US Navy's contribution to the JADC2 project - Joint Combined Command and Control. This project, developed by the Pentagon, was launched in 2020: its essence is to combine information flows from all branches of the armed forces into a single network based on artificial intelligence. The JADC2 implementation process is kept secret.

In the draft FY 2024 military budget, the US Navy requested $192 million for Project Overmatch, up from $226 million allocated in FY 2023.
