Russia is negotiating with Finland for a permanent supply of medical oxygen in the amount of 240 tons per month, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said on Friday.

In order to supply hospitals, which record the number of patients on the ventilator, according to the minister, it was necessary "to use absolutely all possibilities.

At the beginning of July the government addressed the metallurgical companies with a request to share the industrial oxygen - to reduce consumption and free up the stocks for supplying to the hospitals.

But that was not enough. It was necessary to take oxygen from the shipbuilding enterprises, nuclear industry and defense industry, as well as to connect the reserves of the Defense Ministry from military airfields and the volumes of Roscosmos, said Manturov.

In the North-Western and Western regions of the country began to import oxygen from Finland, but so far we are talking about small batches of 20 tons.

"Now we are negotiating about supplies on a permanent basis with a volume of 240 tons per month," Manturov said.

Now in the country there are 5.2 thousand patients on ventilators, said the head of the Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko at the same meeting. The number of serious patients is growing (by 7.5% for a week), despite the fact that the overall morbidity has stabilized around the mark of 25 thousand people per day.

All in all, according to Murashko, there are 865 thousand Covid-19 patients in Russia. This is twice as much as follows from the data of the operational headquarters, which reports 5.907 million cases, 5.3 million recovered and 146.8 thousand dead.

Thus, the number of active cases should be about 461 thousand.

Mortality from Covid-19 in Russia, according to the operational staff, continues to rise and has been breaking records for four consecutive days since the start of the pandemic. In the past 24 hours, 799 people have died.

Russia has the third highest daily mortality rate in the world, surpassed only by Brazil (1,552 deaths) and Indonesia (1,205).
