- The online videos and photos of ships exploding and burning do not show the recently sunk Russian fleet, the Moskva.
- These are images from 2013, 2019 and 2021, of a military exercise by the Norwegian navy, a fire on a cargo ship flying the Tanzanian flag and a fire on an Iranian ship.
- The images are shared on social media by Azov leaders and Ukrainian politicians, among others. They use the wrong images as propaganda.
- We therefore rate the claim that these images show the Moskva after a Ukrainian missile attack as untrue.
- It is still unclear how the ship was able to sink. There are currently no images to be found. The Russians say it was caused by a fire and explosion in the ammunition room on board. The Ukrainians say they destroyed the ship by a rocket attack.
