For 600 million hryvnias collected by Ukrainians, Serhiy Prytula's charitable foundation bought access to a database of satellite images for the Ukrainian army.
"Ukrainians, you are space. We bought a satellite. It's not just one satellite. It gives us access to a database of satellite images of the constellation ICEYE, and this access was purchased more than a year in advance.
From now on, our army will receive high-quality satellite images as quickly as possible, which will help us with operational planning of operations. There will be a lot of "cotton", Serhiy Prytula said.
During the day
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi on Thursday signed a decree on the creation of a city military administration in Berdyansk (Zaporizhia region), temporarily occupied by the Russian occupiers.
9:50 a.m

- of special equipment - 93.
(In parentheses is the change in the indicator compared to the data of August 17).
The enemy suffered the greatest losses in the Donetsk direction.
Morning
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, during a working trip to Lviv Region, visited military personnel wounded during hostilities, who are being treated in one of Lviv's medical institutions.
Zelensky thanked for the service and selfless defense of the Motherland and presented state awards.
The head of state was told that since the beginning of Russia's full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine, more than 9,000 servicemen (more than 3,400 wounded, about 2,100 traumatized and almost 3,600 sick) have been treated at the medical facility.
11:40 a.m
Servicemen of the 44th Separate Artillery Brigade named after Danylo Apostol destroyed the enemy's 2S5 "Hyacinth" self-propelled artillery installation along with ammunition.
11:37 a.m
Law enforcement officers detained an agent of the Russian Federation who "led" more than 120 units of the occupiers' equipment to the outskirts of Kyiv, the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine informs .
"Counter-intelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine neutralized an enemy agent who, in the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, "led" 128 units of the occupiers' equipment from Sumy to Kyiv region. According to the SBU, the traitor turned out to be a resident of Sumy Oblast, recruited by the special services of the Russian Federation. "From the first days of the temporary occupation of the region, he began active cooperation with the enemy, offering to become a guide and show safe ways to Kyiv," the message reads.
After the liberation of Sumy region, the agent continued to cooperate with the FSB and fulfill the tasks of his supervisors. It collected data on the locations, numbers and armaments of the Defense Forces in the region.
"The figure handed the coordinates of military facilities to the FSB employees with reference to the area. He used closed electronic communication channels for communication," the press service added.
Morning
The large number of losses of main battle Russian tanks during the fighting in Ukraine is explained by the fact that they have a low level of dynamic protection. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain on Thursday with reference to intelligence data.
"The large losses of Russian main battle tanks in Ukraine are partly due to the fact that Russia failed to install and properly apply the appropriate dynamic armor protection (ERA)," the agency said.
When used correctly, ERA reduces the effectiveness of incoming projectiles before they hit the tank. This shows that Russian forces have not corrected their habit of misusing the ERA, which dates back to the First Chechen War in 1994. It is likely that many Russian tank crews lack the training to maintain ERA, which leads to either a poor fit of explosive elements or to its complete failure.

OK "Pivden" about combat work in the last half day:
The enemy tried to covertly capture our observation post by the
forces of a motorized rifle platoon with the support of a rocket
salvo fire system. He was stopped by open fire and retreated. Continued the practice of air strikes on our positions along
the contact line. Attacked three times. There was no success.
Used two anti-radar missiles to destroy our air defense
system. The result was unfortunate.
Four times a day, the enemy attacked the Zelenodol community of Kryvorizhia with heavy barrel artillery and fired twice from "Hrad". Fortunately, all the shells fell in the open area. Without human losses.
Our aviation continued the practice of attacking strongholds and areas of concentration of enemy forces, weapons and equipment. Such damage was inflicted in the Novovoznesensky and Oleksandrivka districts, respectively.
As part of the execution of fire missions by missile and artillery units, the enemy lost 29 rocket launchers, a 203-caliber self-propelled gun "Pion", five units of armored vehicles and vehicles, as well as an ammunition supply warehouse in Biloghirka. The final losses of the enemy are being investigated.

The number of victims of the Russians' evening shelling of a hostel in Kharkiv has increased - 7 dead, 17 wounded - mayor Igor Terekhov.

What preceded
▪️ After Russian President Putin announced the start of a "special military operation in
Donbas", Russia launched a massive missile attack on airfields
and other military facilities throughout Ukraine in the
morning of February 24 and went on the offensive on land from
the north (the territories of Belarus and Russian Federation),
the south (from the Crimea) and the east. However, the Armed Forces of Ukraine retained effective
aviation, anti-aircraft defense, and the control system and
began to inflict heavy losses on the enemy in terms of
manpower and equipment.
▪️ In the future, the Russians resorted to anti-aircraft
missile strikes, airstrikes, the use of missiles and
drones. They fight not only with the Ukrainian military, but also
with civilians - they destroy residential buildings, attack
hospitals and kindergartens, oil depots, kill children, engage
in looting.
▪️ After prolonged hostilities, the Russian army gained
control over the only regional center - Kherson, but rallies
for Ukraine continue there as well. The heroism of the Armed Forces and Terrodefense, the unity
of the people, the firmness of the leadership of the army and
the country broke Moscow's plans for a blitzkrieg. Kyiv resists and does not comply with surrender demands, the
Armed Forces destroy the enemy.
▪️ This caused a break in the worldview of Western states and
societies - they clearly sided with Ukraine, provide new, in
particular heavy weapons, and introduced really powerful
sanctions against the Russian Federation. However, NATO refused to use military means to "close the
sky" over Ukraine, from where missile attacks and airstrikes
continue.
▪️ On March 2, the UN General Assembly adopted the vote of 141 countries the first resolution, which sharply condemned the
actions of the Kremlin and called on the Russian Federation to
immediately withdraw its troops from Ukraine. On March 24, the General Assembly supported a second similar resolution (140 countries "in
favor").
▪️ Putin was gathering forces to storm the Ukrainian
capital. But the pace of the offensive first slowed down, then
stopped. After heavy fighting in the suburbs, the Ukrainian army
pushed the Russians back from Kyiv. On March 30-April 1, the Armed Forces of Ukraine regained
control over dozens of settlements in the Kyiv and Chernihiv
regions, the occupiers withdrew, in particular, from the
Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The world was exposed to a terrible picture of the atrocities of the occupiers in Bucha and other settlements
near Kyiv - hundreds of civilians were shot and
tortured.
▪️ On May 16-20, the heroic defense of Mariupol ended - the
Ukrainian garrison at the Azovstal plant was ordered to
preserve personnel and evacuate to captivity.
▪️ On June 24, it became known about the withdrawal of units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine from
Severodonetsk - the actual administrative center of the
Luhansk region; by July 3, the Armed Forces of
Ukraine had withdrawn from Lysychansk , the last city of the Luhansk region. In the future, Russian troops continue offensive actions and
artillery and missile attacks, trying to occupy new cities and
surround the grouping of the United Forces in Donetsk
region.
▪️ On August 9, the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit a military
target on the territory of occupied Crimea for the first time - the airfield in Novofedorivka near
Sakami.
