The Japanese government has announced its intention to convert all motor vehicles to hydrogen. And it is only a question of time about when this wave will reach Europe. Experts predict that the hydrogen boom will be unstoppable.
By 2020, there will be about 40,000 hydrogen fuel cell cars and buses on Japanese roads. By 2025 the number of hydrogen-powered cars registered in the country is expected to reach 200 thousand, and by 2030. - By 2025, the number of cars registered in the country will be 200,000, and by 2030, 800,000.
"Our goal is to be the first in the world to build a society based on the use of hydrogen," Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said at a meeting on new energy issues in Tokyo. Abe is confident that the gradual transition to environmentally friendly fuel batteries based on hydrogen will eventually allow to completely abandon the use of oil and natural gas as fuel.
The goal is to more than halve the price of cars running on hydrogen, up to about $18,000. In addition, by 2025 it is planned to build a network of 320 hydrogen filling stations, mostly in large cities.
