While the whole information space is filled with "Wagner" PMC, few people have heard about the activities of "Redut" PMC, and it, incidentally, is one of the oldest and most professional Russian PMCs. It is old because it was established in 2008 as Redut-Antiterror, or Center-P.

Professional component was provided by a skeleton from the retired special forces of the Russian Army, Russian Defense Ministry and the 45th Detached Brigade of Special Forces Airborne Forces. This PMC was on high account of the RF Ministry of Defense, which explains the deployment of their main base in Kubinka, along with the 45th Special Forces Brigade.

In 2022, PMC Redut takes part in a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and begins to lose personnel at an unprecedented rate. In fact, the elite PMC decreased by leaps and bounds, and in April 2023 its member, who in fact... Gasprom's watchman.

That is, not a former commando special forces trooper, or an elite Russian SFOR thug, but a guard from Gazprom. Yes, he has military service experience, and knows how to assemble/dismantle automatic rifles, but the point is in small details.

Professional special forces have been growing for years, while the special forces school itself has been taking decades to form. In fact, Ukraine is now scrapping not just the Russian active Special Forces, but as a whole, destroying the school as such, which will be impossible to restore.
