Priyogin refused to comply with Putin's order. Some commentators have compared the events in the Russian army to a military mutiny.

In particular, Russian analyst Nesmian assessed Priyogin's statement, in which he refused to follow the Kremlin leader's order to sign a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The statement was reiterated the next day, following Putin's announcement during a meeting with Russian military correspondents that this rule now applies to all Russian military personnel and mercenaries.

"When our homeland was in trouble and needed the help of the Wagner PMC, and we all came to defend it, the President promised us all social guarantees. I am ready to provide for the Wagner PMC fighters, but today I exist, and tomorrow I might not.

Therefore, undoubtedly, the state should participate in social guarantees for veterans, for the fighters who have fulfilled their tasks. That is why, when we started participating in this war, nobody said that we had to sign contracts with the Ministry of Defense.

None of the Wagner PMC fighters are willing to go down the path of shame again. Therefore, no one will sign contracts," said Priyogin.

Anatoly Nesmian notes that Priyogin's statement may seem strange at first glance, but upon closer examination, there are no oddities, as the leader of Wagner is not addressing Shoygu but is directly responding to Putin within less than a day.

"It seems strange because it has already been said - why repeat it. But there are no oddities. Yesterday, Putin literally demanded that all 'volunteer' units sign such a contract.

And Priyogin's response is not addressed to Shoygu but to Putin. Or to whoever was portraying Putin, it doesn't matter in this case," Nesmian points out.

According to him, an open military mutiny is taking place in the Russian army. "In essence, this story is quite unequivocally called a military mutiny because it no longer smells like mere insubordination," he writes.

Meanwhile, Priyogin expressed hope that Putin and the State Duma would "find a compromise solution under which members of the Wagner PMC will receive social guarantees and documents as participants in combat actions."

"I have 20,000 dead. Do they also have to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense?" said Yevgeny Priyogin. "I think a solution will be found, but we will not sign any contract in any case.

The Ministry of Defense is an important government agency, an important structure, but if it is privatized by a group of private individuals, it does not mean that we should participate in this crime."
