There is practically no official information about the Geran-2 drones. However, Western media claim that “in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Tatarstan, preparations are underway to launch the production of kamikaze drones of the Iranian Shahed family, which received the Russian name Geran.” The design capacity of the plant, ready, according to some estimates, is 80% - up to six thousand devices annually.

On July 21, 2023, the US Department of Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) held a briefing on Russian strike UAVs. “US intelligence officials have warned that Russia, with the help of Iran, is building a drone manufacturing plant in the country. Intelligence Agency analysts told a small group of journalists that a drone plant under construction would provide Russia with a new stockpile of drones that is "orders of magnitude larger" than what is purchased from Iran. The DIA believes that “when the facility is completed, probably by early next year, the new drones could have a significant impact on the conflict,” CNN worries.

Of the 500 launches of the Lancets, most of them were M-777 howitzers and other field artillery guns, as well as mortars of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The list of targets destroyed by the Lancet also includes German Leopard 2 tanks, American Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, IRIS-T SLM and Strela-10 air defense systems, as well as Western self-propelled guns: German PzH-2000, American M109, French CAESAR and Polish Krab. Several combat boats of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Dnieper can also be included in the assets of the Lancets. More than 170 of the 500 targets were destroyed, and more than 260 were seriously damaged on impact. According to the operators of the Lancet UAV, the launchers and command posts of the S-300 air defense systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine became the most atypical target for the drones. Their operators destroyed from the maximum distance in the conditions of dense work of electronic warfare.

Other targets for the Lancets are mortars, air defense systems, armored vehicles, radars, vehicles and MLRS. The enemy is looking for ways to deal with Russian kamikaze drones. But the Lancet, thanks to artificial intelligence, can be aimed at the target autonomously, which complicates its interception. So for now, it’s not possible to fight the Lancets, and they regularly destroy enemy artillery and air defense.

The Lancet family of loitering ammunition includes three modifications: with a warhead of 1 kg, 3 kg and 5 kg. Accordingly, they are called "Lancet-1", X-52 "Lancet-3" and X-53 "Product-53".

These vehicles can be equipped with different types of combat units. Versions "Lancet-1" and "Lancet-3" are launched individually from a compact catapult. As for the heavier and new Izdeliya-53, this drone received a folding wing and can be launched from container blocks that can be combined on a mobile platform.

On May 26, the president of the Kalashnikov concern, Alan Lushnikov, announced the creation of a division of his own UAVs and the expansion of drone production several times over. He noted that Kalashnikov has consolidated all its capacities for the production and development of drones.

At the very beginning of the special operation, the Orion medium-class reconnaissance drone and its combat version Pacer were actively used. Then the mention of them disappeared from the information space, as these devices were refined taking into account the experience gained. In March 2023, the Ministry of Defense showed footage of the use of the Inohodets-RU attack drone in the zone of the NVO. Thus, it is officially confirmed that a medium-class multifunctional reconnaissance and strike drone has again entered the battle. It is reported that the capabilities of the Russian drone are superior to the performance characteristics of the Turkish Bayraktar TB2.

In mid-June 2023, the CEO of the Center for Integrated Unmanned Solutions (CCBR) Dmitry Kuzyakin announced the development of an all-weather FPV drone (first-person view) Ultimatum with an increased payload capacity.

The Ultimatum is the latest addition to the Joker's versatile line of FPV drones, capable of "operating in the toughest weather conditions. There is no such wind and water flow on the planet that could bring down the Ultimatum, unless the drone is under a waterfall. Now our devices will be able to work even in such weather when birds are afraid to fly. This is very important, because the enemy does not expect that something will fly to him through the air, for example, during a squally wind and rain with hail,” said D. Kuzyakin.

Finally, on August 1, the NTI Project Support Fund announced the creation of a specialized 3D printer for the industrial production of unmanned aerial vehicles, capable of automating more than 90% of typical tasks and operations in the production of flying drones.

Drone Ghoul

The production of drones through funds from telegram channels also arouses curiosity - in particular, one of them received the fabulous name "Ghoul". Controlling the drone according to the FPV principle (first-person view, or “first-person view”) with the help of virtual reality glasses and gloves with sensors allows the UAV to reach even hard-to-reach targets. At the same time, it is extremely difficult to shoot down a drone. They say that with his deadly cargo, he flew into the Ukrainian dugout through the vent.

And finally, from the latest news: Russia has launched production on a new line of the Gastello drone. When developing the kamikaze drone, the wishes of the military personnel located in the zone of a special military operation were taken into account. The drone is equipped with night vision systems, and the design capacity of the new production will be five thousand units per month.

Thus, throughout the NMD, the Russian military-industrial complex demonstrates technological dynamics that are far ahead of the capabilities of the collective West, not to mention Ukraine, which is deprived of its own defense industry.

Russian UAV factories operate in three shifts, the production of drones is steadily growing, which leaves the enemy no chance even for tactical success.
