As tensions continue in the region, Ukraine's official declaration of a military threat in the waters of six Russian ports further adds to the complexities of the ongoing conflict. The announcement, in response to Russia's previous actions, could have implications on ship insurances and shipping operations. With both sides taking significant measures, the situation remains volatile and requires close monitoring by the international community. The recent incidents involving the damaging of Russian ships near the Crimean bridge highlight the escalating nature of the conflict. Diplomatic efforts and cooperation are crucial to finding a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
- On July 19, 2023, Russia announced that from July 20 it will consider countries "involved in the conflict" whose ships go to the ports of Ukraine.
- The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in response warned that from July 21, all ships sailing in the Black Sea in the direction of Russian seaports and temporarily occupied Ukrainian seaports can be considered by Ukraine as carrying military cargo.
- On the morning of August 4 , explosions thundered in Novorossiysk in the south of the Russian Federation - the SBU, together with the Navy, conducted a special operation with aquadrones in the bay of the city of the Russian Federation: the Olenegorsky miner large landing ship was damaged.
- On the night of August 5 , a Russian tanker SIG was attacked and damaged near the Crimean bridge , which provided the invaders with fuel.
