Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Tsarev, who lives in Yalta, was attacked, a law enforcement source told Kommersant. (Tsarev is one of the leaders of the Donbass separatists - note Agentura.ru).

According to preliminary data, the politician is in the hospital. Later, a message appeared on the politician’s Telegram channel that information about the attempt on his life was confirmed by his relatives. The chairman of the Zaporozhye movement “We are together with Russia,” Vladimir Rogov, said that Mr. Tsarev was shot, and now his condition is very serious. Ukraina.ru journalist Alexander Chalenko wrote that Oleg Tsarev was “cut off.” 

“There is no information about the criminal, the security forces are working. When the ambulance arrived, Oleg was unconscious and had lost a lot of blood. There is no information about the state of his health at the moment,” says a message on Mr. Tsarev’s channel. The channel administrator clarified that the assassination attempt occurred around midnight on the territory of the sanatorium where Mr. Tsarev lived. 

Oleg Tsarev was a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. He also declared his candidacy for the post of President of Ukraine in the early elections on May 25, 2014, but later withdrew his candidacy. He headed the parliament of Novorossiya. Owns and manages the Kirov sanatorium in Crimea.

The Shevchenkovsky District Court of Kyiv sentenced Oleg Tsarev in absentia to 12 years in prison for public calls for deliberate actions to change the boundaries of the territory and state border of Ukraine.
