A Russian investigator who wrote a book about Putin's rise to power died mysteriously in Riga.
In Riga (the capital of Latvia), Russian investigator Dmitry Zapolsky, who wrote a book about the past of Russian President Vladimir Putin, died under mysterious circumstances.
The writer’s wife Elizabeth reported this on his page on Facebook.
“With an emptiness in my heart and not yet understanding what is happening, I am obliged to inform you that Dmitry died this afternoon in Riga while traveling with his family. Presumably a blood clot, although there is no exact information yet. Death was sudden and quick,” she wrote.
Elizabeth admitted that she doesn’t even understand now what to do with the funeral and transportation of the body.
"Lina (daughter) and I are shocked. I don't know what to do yet. Step by step we realize reality, although repression is still winning on this battlefield,” Elizabeth shared her emotions.

Zapolsky is a well-known St. Petersburg journalist who specialized in crime topics.
In 2011, Zapolsky created an initiative group to create an independent Public Television.
A few months later, according to the journalist, one of Putin’s trusted people told him that “there will be no Public Television.” and suggested leaving the country.
Soon Zapolsky emigrated and never returned to Russia.
In 2019, Zapolsky’s book “Putinburg” was published. about the nineties in St. Petersburg.
