The founder of the Russian nationalist online publication Sputnik and Pogrom, Yegor Prosvirnin, died. He fell out of a window in the center of Moscow.

The death of 35-year-old Prosvirnin, with reference to his wife Marina Urusova, is reported by the media, his lawyer, as well as his acquaintances.

“I talked to his wife. Unfortunately, everything is like this. He fell out of the window,” politician Roman Yuneman told the publication Podem.

According to media reports, Prosvirnin’s body was found under the windows of a residential building on Tverskaya Street. Before falling, he allegedly threw a knife and a gas canister out of the window.

As Prosvirnin’s neighbors told the BBC, screams and swearing could be heard from his apartment all day.

Prosvirnin is a journalist and founder of the nationalist online publication Sputnik and Pogrom. In 2017, it was blocked at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office for promoting ideas of national and religious hatred, and in 2018 it announced its closure.

In 2015, Prosvirnin was searched in connection with a case of extremism, initiated after his article on the “goals and objectives of Russian nationalism,” which, in particular, proposed “bringing down Ukraine” and creating a “Russian national state.” Prosvirnin later said that the case “ended in nothing.”
