Career

Nazarov's journey into the world of cryptocurrencies began more than ten years ago, around the same time that Bitcoin's whitepaper was published. While some in the crypto community have speculated that Nazarov may be Bitcoin's creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, he is publicly known as the co-founder of Chainlink, a decentralized oracle network that connects smart contracts to real-world data and systems.

In 2014, Nazarov co-founded SmartContract.com, a platform that allows developers to create and execute smart contracts on the blockchain. In 2017, SmartContract.com launched the Chainlink network, which is a decentralized oracle network. Chainlink has become one of the most widely used oracle networks in the blockchain industry, with many other blockchain projects and businesses collaborating and integrating with it.

As of December 2021, Chainlink's total value of protected assets was over US$75 billion, largely driven by the network's oracle service, which has expanded to include cryptocurrency-related data as well as off-chain information such as sports scores and weather forecasts . Additionally, there are over 1,000 projects in development, many of which were inspired by various Chainlink hackathons.

In 2021, Chainlink launched services on various networks such as Avalanche, BNB Chain, Ethereum and Polygon, and established partnerships with global enterprises such as The Associated Press, AccuWeather, Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform. Nazarov and his team presented hybrid smart contracts that combine on-chain data and off-chain data provided by oracles. They also introduced Keepers, bots that automate transactions specific to DeFi.

In August 2021, Chainlink introduced the Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), which is an open-source standard for cross-chain communications. CCIP will facilitate connections between hundreds of blockchain networks and serve as the basis for Chainlink's programmable token bridge. To support its cross-chain concept, Chainlink has brought in experienced consultants such as former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, former LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner, and former Coinbase CTO Balaji Srinivasan.

Personal life

Sergey Nazarov was born in 1990 in Moscow. He immigrated to the United States with his parents when he was a child.
